Welcome to the Department of Fisheries & Aquaculture Management. The Department has grown from its humble separation from the former Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries Management as one the best Fisheries and Aquaculture establishment. The B.Sc. Degree programme in Fisheries and Aquaculture Management is a 5-year programme. The curriculum is designed to prepare students to explore the wide opportunities opened to them and to have proficiency and skills in the domains of Fish Nutrition, Fish Breeding, Fish Feed Formulation, Pond Construction and Management, Fish Gear Technology, Fish Hydrobiology and Limnology, Ornamental Fisheries, Fish Processing and Storage Technology, Fisheries Policy and Legislation, Fisheries Microbiology and Pathology, Oceanography e.t.c for food production security and income generation.

The vision of the department is geared at producing an all-round manpower for the traditional productive economic sector of the State and Nigeria. Additionally, the Department turns out professionals to fulfill roles in stabilizing and enhancing Fisheries Resources and Aquaculture Management. The mission of the Department is to plan and execute appropriate undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as dynamic community based services to stakeholders in the area of Fisheries Science and Aquaculture Management in the State.

The Department has a solid collaboration among inter-disciplinary research and also cognate departments and faculties both inside and outside the university community
