HOD's Welcome Address





I welcome you to the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. The Department is the latest addition to the Faculty. The Department was established to corroborate other departments in the faculty by way of value addition to all agricultural products through preservation, storage and processing to novel products as well as in establishment of micro, small and medium pilot processing plants in the food system. It shall train experts with skill in conversion of our traditional crops and animals into novel products that can attract local and international markets. Students will be trained to acquire skills that would transform them to become expert thinkers, innovative managers, and resourceful technocrats in their life pursuits. The Department has produced graduates thriving in different endeavours at home and abroad. The department presently has a renown Food scientist as the Head of Department and two other young lecturers who are competent, reliable and selfless. The department hopes to have research collaboration with other departments in the Faculty and leading international institution offering Food Science and Technology in order to produce globally competitive graduates.
